Clare’s new skill!
By Clare
Scott always cuts his own hair. Actually, by “cutting his own hair” I mean he takes the trimmer and trims all over his head to cut his hair to an even length. He has been doing this since forever ago, so his “hairstyle” hasn’t changed for a very long time! So when he was thinking to trim his hair again a few months ago, we happened to be talking about how it might be fun to try a different hairstyle. Therefore, I think he got curious about what he might look like with a different hairstyle. So he actually kept it growing!
It got to a point where it started to look a bit funny, because his hair was trimmed to equal lengths in relation to his head - a sphere. What I mean is that, though his hair grew in the same lengths, the top was now only down to the length of his ears, and the bottom sides were down to his neck, so it made him look a bit like a mushroom. (I have to say it did always put me in a good mood to see a walking mushroom!)
He couldn’t take it much longer, so I did some research and read about men’s hairstyles. We want to try a few different hairstyles, so we want to keep it growing, but just to give it some definition for now. I thought actually the Japanese actor, Takeshi Kaneshiro’s hairstyle could suit him! So I read more about it, and he seemed to like it, too, so……. here came the day of stylist Clare’s work!
I have NEVER cut a guy’s hair. In fact, I’ve never cut anyone else’s hair other than my own. As a girl, you know how important hair is! So I was a bit nervous, and I made sure he’d be okay to just shave his head if I messed up! Haha….Only then I was more comfortable doing this! At the same time though, I was a bit excited to try giving him a new hairstyle!
I had him sit in the tub, and started to trim a little at a time. Oh wow, he has SO MUCH hair! I mean, I kind of knew that but it’s still impressive when I actually tried to cut it! So funny thing, he suggested we could play some music in the background, but I turned it off after about 5 secs. Haha…stylish Clare is not experienced enough, so I wanted to limit any distraction! After several cuts, it looked like as if I had never cut it because he has so much hair, then I relaxed a bit and thought actually it won’t be that easy to mess up with his hair!
I didn’t check how long it actually took to cut his hair, but when I was done, he seemed to like the hairstyle! He was trying to blow dry it parting left, parting right, parting in the middle….etc. I guess it’s something he’s never tried before! Haha!
This turned out to be quite fun! Now I’m encouraging him to keep growing his hair into the length where he can do a ponytail! I can’t imagine what he’ll look like, haha! Let’s wait and see!
